Steve Lodder
After a classical music degree course at Cambridge Steve taught music in secondary schools before an interest in jazz and improvised musics led him to work with many of London's jazz luminaries, while also writing music for film, theatre and TV productions. At the end of the 80's he joined George Russell's "Living Time Orchestra" and met and played on Andy Sheppard's early albums.

In '91 he joined "Inco-motion", Andy's electric band, and made 4 albums. Other albums include "Moving Image" for Verve, featuring music from the BBC profile of Peter Sellers, and "Inclassificable", a trio with the Brazilian percussionist Nana Vasconcelos. Steve also works with John Harle, contemporary sax player; Mark Ramsden, with whom he recorded a CD of music for sax and church organ ("Above the Clouds"); Monica Vasconcelos's "Nois", a Brazilian jazz lineup, has toured with Carla Bley's "Escalator over the Hill" and has been musical assistant to Paul McCartney, working on the "Standing Stone" orchestral project. Steve wrote a monthly keyboard column for 5 years and also did keyboard reviews for the magazine "Making Music", as well as writing CD reviews for the Musicians Union magazine. Steve was musical director with the Music on the Line project alongside Sibongile Khumalo and other artists from countries on the meridian including Ghana, Mali, Spain and France and has since been musical director on an UK tour with Sibongile. His first solo CD was released last 2002. Current projects include the Zappatistas, touring live versions of rather complex Frank Zappa tunes, a church organ trio playing Asaf Sirkis' pieces for drums, organ and guitar, and a book on the 70's Music of Stevie Wonder.
